Activities:
We provide the largest clinical multidisciplinary service for cutaneous porphyrias in the UK, staffed by a group of Dermatologists specialising in the Cutaneous Porphyrias and in Photodermatology. We provide specialised care for over 100 patients suffering from EPP, as well as looking after patients suffering from PCT, CEP, cutaneous complications of VP, and other rarer cutaneous porphyrias. We provide liver fibroscanning tests for patients with porphyrias which may involve the liver and have a Multidisciplinary Cutaneous Porphyria service with the Hepatologists from the Liver Unit at King’s College Hospital. Diagnostic laboratory based porphyrin testing is provided by the nearby specialised Porphyrin Diagnostics Service at King’s College Hospital.
We are also involved in clinical trials and other clinical research in the cutaneous porphyrias.
